AssistantGraphic Designer | Web Designer

Assistant

Starting salary: $7.75

Assistants are responsible assisting the Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications in developing and executing marketing plans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the everyday maintenance of the departmental website
  • Assist in the design of promotional material
  • Assist in developing and executing marketing plans
  • Research and implement ideas for increasing awareness of programs and services 
  • Photograph and video at University Recreation programs and events.
  • Create and edit multi-media projects
  • Assist in the distribution of University Recreation print media to departments and resident halls on campus
  • Represent and assist in the coordination of University Recreation and collaborative special events

Required Qualifications: 

  • The desire to gain experience in an area of marketing within a recreation department
  • The ability to communicate effectively and represent the department professionally
  • Enthusiasm for promotion of all University Recreation programs 
  • Creative thinker
  • Efficient computer skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends, as needed

Graphic Designer

Starting salary: $10.00

The Graphic Designer, under the direction of the Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications is responsible for assisting with all the design and creation of all publications, websites, logos and other design for the department. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develop logos, publicity, marketing materials, etc. as requested by the department
  • Develop promotional materials for events such as RecFest, Intramural Leagues, Outdoor Adventure trips, and other large campus events. Promotional materials may include logos, ads, print material, social media icons
  • Develop annual Recreation Guide
  • Assist with special event marketing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and ability to accept direction
  • Creativity
  • Understands the fundamental principles of graphic design and layout
  • Can use Macintosh computers proficiently
  • Working knowledge of Adobe products including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign 
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends as needed to meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills 
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and challenging atmosphere 

Web Designer

Starting salary: $10.00

The Web Designer is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director, Marketing and Communication with web design and maintenance, web-based promotions, and social media development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and routine maintenance of the department website 
  • Assist with the development of University Recreation web-based promotions
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of ideas for increased participation in departmental activities
  • Assist with multi-media projects
  • Research ideas for website features/design and help implement these ideas into future programs

Required Qualifications: 

  • The desire to gain experience in an area of marketing as it relates to University Recreation
  • Enthusiasm for promoting the department and all of its programs
  • Ability to work independently in developing creative programs for the department
  • HTML, CSS, Drupal experience 
  • Experience managing social media sites
