All Group Fitness classes are free for NC State Students and Carmichael Complex members. With more than 125 classes offered per week during the Fall and Spring semesters, there is something for everyone. The schedule offers a variety of class formats and spans up to 15 hours a day.

All Group Fitness classes include modifications for all fitness levels to ensure that each participant has the ability to set and meet their individual fitness goals.

 

Online Registration

In an effort to continue to provide innovative and convenient programming, University Recreation has planned to pilot an online pre-registration process.

Effective Tuesday, September 2, the Group Fitness will utilize IMLeagues.com for online registration of all Yoga and TRX® classes. In order to ensure a spot in one of these Group Fitness class formats, you will need to pre-register for the class. Once you pre-register, you are guaranteed a spot.

The Carmichael Gym is scheduled to undergo a facility renovation and expansion project. Beginning as early as the Spring 2014 semester, Group Fitness classes are expected to be held in fewer studios and have fewer offerings each week. In addition, we anticipate a greater demand in most classes. The result of which could potentially lead to lines forming to participate in a Group Fitness class, and a greater chance of participants not getting a spot.

By pre-registering, you are guaranteed a spot in a group fitness class. Therefore, the need to arrive to the class early to claim your spot is elimated.

Currently, registration is offered for the following formats:

  • All TRX classes
  • Yoga formats:Yoga Flow, Power Yoga, and Restorative Yoga
  • Click HERE to pre-register for a Group Fitness Class
  • If you do not already have an account through IMLeagues.com, please create an account using your NC State University email address.
  • Click on the Fitness tab, located at the top of the page.
  • Find the specific class that you would like to register for. Click the green icon “Sign Up”.
  • An email will be send to confirm your registration in the class.
  • Visit IMLeagues.com and click “Create Account”.
  • Enter your information using your NC State University email.
  • You will be sent an activation email. Please click the link located in the email to activate your account.
Your ID and password is the same for both Intramural Sports and Group Fitness registration.
Reservations open 24 hours in advance and close 30-minutes prior to the start of the group fitness class.
Yes. However, we highly encourage pre-registration in order to guarantee a spot. Non-registered participants may show up for a class 5-minutes prior to the start, but is not guaranteed a sport. Five spots will be reserved for drop-ins.
If you arrive after the start of class, you will not be allowed to participate in the class. This is for safety concerns and may also be disruptive to both the instructor and participant.
Yes. All cancellations must be made no later than 30-minutes prior to the start of class. To make a cancellation, select the class that you registered for and click “Leave Session”.
If a class is full, you may sign up for the waitlist. If a spot opens, the next person on the waitlist will be automatically moved to the class roster and will be notified via email. As a reminder, all online registrations close 30-minutes prior to the start of the scheduled class time. If a participant remains on the waitlist, they must arrive at least 5-minutes prior to the start of class. If there is room at the start of class, they will be admitted into the class as a drop-in.
