University Recreation commits to foster a learning environment for our student employees that cultivate the skills of ethical reasoning, critical thinking, teamwork, initiative and professionalism. The goal is to help develop students’ transferable skills and create a supportive and challenging environment for students to succeed in and out of the classroom.

University Recreation employs more than 700 student employees in a variety of positions. Becoming a University Recreation Team Member allows students to gain valuable experience working within their area of interest and the possibility for advancement within the department. University Recreation Team Member positions offer flexible scheduling along with the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fun work environment.

In order to be considered for an on-campus student position at University Recreation, applicants must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program in at least a half-time basis (9 credits for undergraduate; 4.5 credits for graduate). Positions are available for both work-study and non work-study students.

Students wishing to join the University Recreation team are encouraged to attend a Student Employee Job Recruitment Fair. The Student Employee Job Recruitment Fair allows students to interact directly with professional staff and student employees, while learning about the job opportunities within University Recreation. After the interview process, students selected for employment with University Recreation will attend orientation. All new employees will need to be prepared to bring documentation and identification to orientation. This orientation checklist will help you to prepare.
